Daystar Academy is looking for highly qualified, justice-minded teachers for positions in Pre-K-5th (IB-Primary Years Program) 6th-10th grades (IB-Middle Years Program) and 11th-12th grades (IB-Diploma Program.)  Daystar’s mission is to empower students to impact the world through a faith-based, culturally-engaged, globally-minded education.  The minimum qualifications are:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field

  • Teaching Certification

  • Experience with inquiry-based teaching and learning

  • Experience with and value of culturally-responsive pedagogy 

  • Growth mindset about teaching and learning

  • Commitment to Daystar's Statement of Faith and to teaching at a Christian school

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP), IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and/or IB Diploma Program (DP) would be a plus

  • Pre-K-5th Grade (PYPLead Teacher

The lead teacher plans and implements the program in consistent and creative ways. The lead teacher creates unit plans that are aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program of inquiry and the Common Core Standards. Lead teachers work to integrate faith into their teaching responsibilities. They will consistently use data to inform their instructional practice and support students to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. 

 

  • Pre-K-5th Grade (PYP) Apprentice Teacher

The apprentice teacher role provides a unique opportunity for teachers to explore the field of constructivist education in a faith-based school. Apprentice teachers will observe and learn from lead teachers while reinforcing learning based on students' individual and small group needs. By the end of the year apprentice teachers typically are stronger candidates for lead teaching positions.

 

  • 6th-8th Grade (MYP) Art and Design Teacher 

This is a full-time position teaching a combination of IB-MYP Visual Arts classes to 6th-8th grade students as well as IB-MYP Design classes to 6th-8th grade students.

 

  • 6th-8th Grade (MYP) Language Acquisition Teacher (Spanish)

This is a full-time position teaching MYP Language Acquisition to students in grades 6-8, with a potential for additional Spanish teaching responsibilities at the high school level.

  

  • High School MYP/DP Language and Literature Teacher

This is a full-time position teaching IB MYP Language and Literature and/or IB DP Language and Literature to students in grades 9-12.

 

  • High School DP Theory of Knowledge Teacher

This is a part-time position teaching 11th and 12th grade students DP Theory of Knowledge.
