Our Daystar parents make up a vital part of the community. They are more than just a ride to and from school and we value every moment of their involvement. Parents at Daystar become chaperones for learning excursions, participants in chapel, coaches, and so much more. Prospective parents, look below for information about how you can become part of the Daystar community. Current Daystar parents, the column on the right provides useful links for your benefit.
Daystar students are out of the classroom all of the time. With each grade beginning in Kindergarten taking 10-15 Learning Excursions each year, there are an abundance of opportunities to get involved as a parent as a chaperone. Keep an eye out for Learning Excursion forms coming home with your child to see whether the trip could use some chaperones and if it works out with your schedule.
Parents are welcome every to join chapel at Daystar from 8:00 - 8:40 am every Friday morning.Chapel includes singing, prayer, and a short lesson given by a Daystar staff member. Though tailored towards our students, chapel is a time where many Daystar families enjoy community together, often spending time to catch up with one another afterward. Parents will often become a resource for curious prospective families joining for a tour, providing a parent perspective.
Volunteering is never a requirement at Daystar but family members are welcome to take advantage of opportunities that arise throughout the year. One of Daystar's partners and donors is New To You, a resale shop in Broadview, IL; each year New To You hosts a number of volunteer days (including one to get the store ready for the holidays - a favorite in the Daystar community) that are published to Daystar's calendar. Parent communications also include volunteer opportunities that arise throughout the year.
